Author and Freelance Writer Pauline Hylton is kind of like a cat—with nine lives. No, she hasn’t had an after death experience. But she has lived in eight states and about eleven cities. And no, she does not have her picture plastered in the post office. She has just experienced a lot in her sixty-seven years.
Born in Indiana to parents who served as Salvation Army Offiicers, she moved from there to Kansas and then to Wisconsin where everyone made fun of her accent. She finished high school in Illinois, and attended four years at Asbury University, in Kentucky. She began her writing career in Clearwater, Florida where she worked as a probation officer and then began decking for her husband on their charter fishing boat. He kinda-sorta fired her and so she ended up at home with her children and eventually her elderly parents.
After that, she and her husband moved to a sixty-six acre old tobacco farm in the middle-of-nowhere North Carolina to try organic farming.
They failed but she continued to write. Now, she and her husband live in the terrace level apartment of her daughter’s home outside of Atlanta, Georgia. It’s been quite a ride.
She has over two hundred published pieces in small newspapers and larger ones like the Tampa Bay Times. She’s been published in Chicken Soup, USA Today Magazines and online publications, Tea Time Magazine, and Birds and Blooms to name just a few.
She even wrote a book titled, Growing in Christ From the Ground Up, about the failed attempt at
farming.
She loves the Lord, her family, and dark chocolate—not necessarily in that order.
